Nusantara Capital City (IKN) continues to show significant progress in its development, including the provision of modern transportation infrastructure. Most recently, IKN has officially launched Air Taxi services as an efficient and environmentally friendly mobility solution. This initiative makes IKN one of the first cities in Indonesia to adopt Air Taxi technology to serve the transportation needs of the community and project workers.
According to a press statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation delivered on Thursday, October 23, 2025, in the commercial area of IKN, the Air Taxi service is operated by PT. Angkasa Inovasi Nusantara in collaboration with a leading drone technology company from South Korea. The initial phase of operation involves three electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft capable of carrying up to two passengers plus a pilot. The inaugural flight route connects the central government area with the residential area for construction workers in East District 1, with a much shorter travel time compared to land transportation.
The Head of the IKN Authority Agency, Mr. Bambang Susilo, stated at a press conference held at 10:00 AM Western Indonesian Time that the presence of the Air Taxi service is a manifestation of the government’s commitment to building IKN as a smart and sustainable city. He added that the selection of eVTOL technology was based on considerations of energy efficiency and minimal carbon emissions, in line with IKN’s vision as a forest city. Intensive operational trials have been conducted over the past few weeks with strict supervision from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation of the Ministry of Transportation and an independent aviation safety expert team.
Furthermore, Commissioner Anita Rahmawati from the Sepaku Police Station reported on Saturday, October 25, 2025, that security around the helipad area and Air Taxi flight paths has been increased to ensure safety and order. The operator has also provided a booking application integrated with a digital payment system, making it easier for prospective passengers to book and pay for the Air Taxi service. The initial fare is estimated at IDR 350,000 for short routes, with fare adjustments based on distance and flight time. The East Kalimantan Provincial Government welcomes this innovation and hopes it can support economic growth and connectivity in the region.
